New formation: Ex-Wellensiek solicitors form independent law firm
At the beginning of November, the fusion of the Mannheim offices of Irschlinger, Raff and Pöschke with three attorneys from the Munich offices of Wellensiek gave rise to the new law firm "anchor Solicitors."
There are a total of ten professionals now working for anchor in Mannheim and Stuttgart.
In the summer, Friedrich Irschlinger had already retired from his law firm where he had supervised a renowned insolvency law and administration department. Irschlinger set up Tobias Wahl (39) as his successor. Wahl, who had joined the partnership in September 2006, came from Wellensiek as did the three partners who now constitute anchor's Munich location.
Vincenz von Braun (35), Dr. Christoph Herbst (39) and Alexander Reus (35) were employed as local partners of Wellensiek in Munich, primarily in the area of insolvency administration. They would like to maintain contact with Wellensiek even after their separation. "We parted on good terms," von Braun said. "In the course of time, however, we sensed the wish to go our own way. But even after the formation of anchor we would like to selectively continue to work together with our former colleagues."
After the three partners resigned, Wellensiek plans to retain the location but without insolvency administrators for the time being. The Frankfurt partner Alfred Hagebusch explained that his offices want to continue to expand their consulting activities in the field of reorganisation and recapitalisation. "Munich is an interesting location for our recapitalisation consulting," he said. "We will build up the personnel in our offices there and are looking explicitly for solicitors who can support us in the needs of clients with international income."
The Munich office was founded in 2001 when the well-known insolvency law offices Wellensiek and Grub merged. After they ended their cooperation four years later, both firms continued their presence in the Bavarian metropolis independently of each other. Wellensiek, now at a new address, is currently being directed by Dr. Thomas Laskos who came from McDermott Will & Emery about three years ago.
